Imagine you're walking along the shoreline, the sand warm beneath your toes and the scent of salty sea air filling your lungs. The sun is shining brightly, and there's a cool, refreshing breeze off the water that makes everything feel just right. You're surrounded by the sounds of waves crashing rhythmically and children laughing in the distance. Life feels easy, carefree, and full of colour.

As you find the perfect spot to sit, a feeling of complete relaxation washes over you. You reach into your project bag and pull out a ball of vibrant yarn, the colour reminiscent of the sparkling ocean. Your hook feels light and smooth in your hands as you start to stitch. As the breeze lifts and tugs at your yarn, you smile, feeling the energy of the ocean infuse your project. The Sassy Sardines cowl is more than just a project; it’s the spirit of summer captured in stitches.

🌞 I have joined forces once again with the FABULOUSLY talented crochet designer Heather Gibbs of @kcaco.uk, in our 9th Dyer/Designer MAL collaboration, the Sassy Sardines Make Along!

🌞 But, what’s a MAL?

Well, we know you’ve heard of CAL or KAL (crochet or knit along respectively!) or even a Mystery knit along (MKAL) ...

... so, a MAL, or Make ALong, is similar to all of these, with only a couple of differences.

🌞 A make-along is the specific release of a pattern, with all of the details required to make the design, along with a specific start date for everyone to begin their project, TOGETHER!

🌞 The MAL will run from 16th June to 27th July 2025 for a nice, relaxed Spring project with plenty of time for you to make a beautiful & exclusive CROCHETED cowl ...

Each kit includes:

Each kit will include 250g in total of super washed 100% merino DK and DK Worsted yarn, this time all the skeins have been dyed in special colours!

With each kit you will receive:

1x 20g 24m mini skein of Ultra DK in an exclusive hand-dyed colourway

1x 115g 230m skein of Worsted DK in another exclusive hand-dyed colourway

1 x 115g 230m skein of Worsted DK in a third exclusive hand-dyed colourway

Sassy Sardines Make-Along (MAL) 2025

We are SUPER excited to tell you more about this 9th secret project we've been working on.

I've joined forces with Heather from kcaco.uk, who as created a brand new design, working with some of my exclusively-dyed yarn, to create a unique crocheted cowl called Sassy Sardines

It was a case of crochet designer virtually meeting yarn dyer!

Back in March 2020, Heather joined one of my Virtual Stitch-n-B*tch sessions and thereafter joined in almost daily chats with a host of other lovely people.

The more we got to know each other, the more the joke started that we should do a collaboration – which then developed into an actual idea for a make-along (MAL) - with mood boards, and ideas crossing the ether through clandestine zoom calls and plenty of emails and messages .. and here we are 5 years later!

We really hope you enjoy this new MAL and look forward to crocheting along with you from June 16th, througthout the Spring and sharing your finished makes online on July 27th!
Pre-orders open: 7th April 2025

Dyed to order: 18th April 2025 onwards ..

I will begin dyeing the kit colourways once orders start coming in, on a first come, first served basis during preorder .. and will wing their way to you from End of May 2025

From 26th of May there will be a couple of weeks turnaround, but you can start the Make along at any point (and indeed contiue after the end date, throughout the summer if you wish!)

International orders: *please note* All international customers are responsible for any additional taxes or duties required in their home country. Your kit will be shipped Tracked with Royal Mail from 27th May onwards (depending on when your order is recieved)

UK orders: Shipped Signed For with Royal Mail from 28th May onwards (depending on when your order is recieved)

MAL commences: 16th June 2025
